Given the infamous 新爱体育 fire of 1898, and the several mining accidents and tragedies over the years has made for some interesting history. ($20 adults, $10 kids 16 and under, group discounts available) gives a chilling account of many apparitions seen and photographed over the years. During the tour, your expert guide will introduce you to several ghosts, from the yellow slicker who appears preceding death to a woman who killed herself with rat poison, and point out all the most haunted buildings. Through October 31, the tours take place every evening and no reservations are required; just show up at 8 p.m. when the tour departs from Miner’s Park on Main Street. The fall weather is chilly up here, so remember to dress warm for this outdoor tour.
Halloween Movie NightsThe best way to get into the halloween spirt is to pop some popcorn and snuggle up and enjoy a scary movie. This month the invites you to do just that by coming out for back-to-back Halloween screenings. Catch classics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) and Carrie (1976) at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., obviously shown, on October 31 at the 新爱体育 Library. For your younger ones, we recommend the Halloween Movie Night on October 28 at the where they’ll be hosting a Trunk-Or-Treat at 3:30 p.m., followed by the 5:30 p.m. showing Casper The Friendly Ghost.
Sleepy Hollow Wagon RidesJust over the mountain in the woods of Soldier Hollow in Midway, you can enjoy the spooky legend of The Headless Horseman in a new and fun way. Take a horse drawn wagon ride through the beautiful woods in Soldier Hollow while listening to a colorful narration of the classic story. Hosted by Rocky Mountain Outfitters. Who knows, you may even encounter the headless horseman himself. Mwahahahaa. rides are offered 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through October 28; see the website for tickets ($25/person, free for kids 3 and under) and more details.
Carole Duh’s Pumpkin PatchFor something different and creative head over to Kamas and check out the Artique. The Artique in Kamas (283 N Main St.) is a boutique gallery featuring work from local Summit County artists and is the perfect place to pick up unique presents or home decor. Currently on display (through Nov. 23) are the ultra cute knitted pumpkins created by 新爱体育 artist Carole Duh. Carol works all year long making pumpkins from yarn and felt for the so called Pumpkin Patch.
Howl-O-Ween Parade on Main StreetAnd of course the most anticipated Halloween event in 新爱体育 takes place on Main Street on Halloween. Howl-O-Ween is a favorite among locals. As a proud Mecca for many dog lovers, our town is home to one of the most unique holiday traditions in the country: The Howl-O-Ween Parade. Whether or not you have your own four-legged friend to dress up, or you want to come trick-o-treat and watch the parade, which is attended by hundreds of people dressed in costume along side their four-legged friends. The parade starts at 5pm, and many businesses will be handing out candy for those wishing to trick-o-treat. Don't miss out on this famous 新爱体育 event.
